Laser peening is a non-contact fatigue improvement method that utilizes tailored stress waves generated by a pulsed laser. The process imparts beneficial compressive residual stresses up to ten times deeper than shot peening, providing superior cracking resistance, fatigue resistance, and damage tolerance.
